Brussels Sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower are most susceptible to losing nutrients when boiled too long.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Microwave ovens are exquisite for cooking vegetables. You can make baked potatoes in them - and get the skin actually nice and crispy while retention the flesh tender. Of course, you may need to add toppings - but remember to steer away from high fat ones such as butter and mayonnaise.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Grilling is also someone else cooking method that you can use for salutary and yummy meals. Why not have a smoothie for breakfast? Most smoothies only need some ice, some fresh fruit and some imagination.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Of course, let us not forget that you can also create low fat and low calorie meals as well as completely nutritious meals without any making ready at all! Remember that you can actually make a salad without the need to cook anything at all! You can create salad with fruits or vegetables - and you can have a snack in as easy as five minutes.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You can also create fruit skewers, which are creative and salutary as well. At the same time, they are very easy to do. All you have to do is take some kebab skewers and stick some slices of melons and pineapples, grapes and strawberries and dip them in non fat yogurt!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You can also make your own homemade salsa which you can use for dipping. You can use this as a healthier alternative to high fat dips such as sour cream. You can actually make salsa by production use of tasteless salutary kitchen ingredients such as tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lime juice, avocado and onions.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You can also perk up your plaid old salad by using colorful vegetables or fruit. These do not only make the salad look good, but also adds to the flavor and the zest of the salad. You can also spruce up your pasta and potato salads with green peppers, broccoli, zucchini, carrots and cucumbers. These do not only add in color but add an extra crunch to your meal as well.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Of course, when it comes to salads, remember that the dressing is also an important matter. A plateful of vegetables can actually be sabotaged by high fat dressings. But you don't need to worry, you can all the time have a low fat and salutary dressing - there are fullness available in the market. While I am passionate about the topic of healthy living, I realize the need to be straightforward and brief in my initial advice. Over the years I have come up with my 5 easy rules for eating healthy. These guidelines are proper for all population beginning with school-aged children to adults. Most importantly, I stress these are healthy eating guidelines for population of all shapes and sizes. Overweight population tend to lose weight following the rules while underweight, 'dieting' teens and young adults tend to be less restrictive and learn how to eat more intuitively. In other words, the combination of eating healthy and exercising inevitably leads over time to a weight that is healthy for that individual person.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;  &lt;div style="float: left;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;Here we go:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;1) Eat morning meal - it's spectacular, to me how many population leave the house for school or work without anything in their stomach. Who lets their kids go to school hungry? Unfortunately, this is a huge problem. "I'm not hungry" and "I don't have adequate time" are two of the most common excuses. No more excuses! Studies have proven that eating anything before going to school leads to better test scores in morning classes. If you not eating breakfast, then start with something tomorrow. It can be cereal and milk or other former morning meal foods or even a slice of leftover pizza. If you can't stomach solid food, drink a slim-fast/ensure or other liquid meal supplement. This one convert will growth your metabolism and raise your glucose level giving you more energy and better concentration.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;img src="" alt="" title="5 Steps to salutary Living"&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;2) Eat 5 fruits/vegetables a day - You would not believe the shocked looks I get from patients with this one. 'Impossible' they say. But really, it's not too difficult. I personally love fruits and veggies and aim for myself to eat at least 3 fruit and 5 veggies a day. Some studies recommend that optimal cancer-fighting properties are not met until 11 or more servings a day are consumed. But I'm a realist, so let's start with five. Here's an example of a typical menu: morning meal - (remember you are eating this now) 4-6 oz of orange juice and a handful of blueberries (1). Lunch - carrot and celery sticks with hummus, peanut butter, ranch dressing etc (2) with a piece of fruit (3) in addition to other foods. Snack - grapes, watermelon chunks or yogurt smoothie made with frosty berries, pineapple or other fruit (4). Evening meal - side of vegetable such as green beans, broccoli, salad made with leafy lettuce, fresh spinach (not iceberg) (5-6). Be creative and flexible. Raw vegetables for Evening meal are fine. And remember, potatoes and ketchup don't count!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;3) No calorie drinks! - this is a big one. Humans are mostly made up of water and that is what we should drink. I recommend a maximum of only 4-6 ounces of 100% fruit juice a day. Preferably not apple or grape juice which is positively only glorified sugar water with artificially added vitamin C. Also 2-3 cups (8ounces per cup) of low fat milk (skim or 1%) is recommended. Green tea or one cup of coffee a day for adults is ok. Then water. No soda, no fruit punch, no sports drinks and no energy drinks! You don't need them and they are full of sugar and chemicals.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;4) One treat a day - this is probably the most leading rule. Since these rules outline how to eat for life, it is leading to treat yourself daily to one thing that may not be the most nutritious, but that you positively enjoy. That's right - eat a brownie, cake, French fries, or anything else you crave. But - you only get to choose one treat a day. So if you have potato chips for lunch, then no cookies for snack. French fries for dinner, than no milkshake. We all eat way too much junk food and that has to stop. Even if you are thin, saturated fat and sugar are not healthy and damage your body. Also - your treat has to be one serving size. This is the hard part. Look at the back of a box of chips and see that a serving size is about 12 chips. Count out 12 chips, close the bag and then eat your treat. Ice cream has a serving size of 1/2cup. Measure it out and you will be shocked at the amount. We eat too much junk.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;5) practice daily - start with 30minutes. It can be anything that gets you attractive - walking the dog, playing surface with your kids, turning on some music and dancing in your living room. anything it takes. I can't stress adequate the significance of attractive for a healthy mind and body.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;These 5 guidelines are just a start. In the following weeks, I will look at each topic in depth and give more exact advice. You can have the food catered or order deli trays from your local supermarket. Or if you like to cook and have the time you can plan to prepare the food yourself. We have put together a list of some food ideas to serve at your baby shower that are easy to prepare as well as tasty and easy to eat.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;What type of baby shower you are planning and where will it be held? If it is a casual party at someone's home then plan to serve food that is easy to deal with and not too messy. If the guests will have to hold their plates in their laps then you do not want to serve food that is too messy to eat. If there will be tables set up for the guests to sit at then you can be a exiguous more adventurous with the food.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;img src="" alt="" title="Baby Shower Food Ideas"&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Chips &amp;amp; Dip&lt;/b&gt; - choose from tortilla chips with salsa, guacamole, bean dip, and sour cream or a range of potato chips with onion dip and ranch dip.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Spinach Dip&lt;/b&gt; - serve with raw vegetables, crackers, toast rounds, and/or pita triangles.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Spinach Artichoke Dip&lt;/b&gt; - add 1-14 oz. Can of artichokes (drained &amp;amp; chopped) to the spinach dip.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Seafood Spinach Dip&lt;/b&gt; - add &amp;frac12; cup crab meat (the imitation seafood legs work well too, make sure to shred them before adding to mixture). You can use either the spinach or artichokes or you can omit both.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Hummus&lt;/b&gt; with pita chips, toast rounds, celery and carrot sticks.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Pita Chips - you could buy pre-made pita chips but it is so easy to make them and they taste 10 times better. You can make them a incorporate of days before the baby shower and store them in an airtight container. There are tons of seasoning varieties you could use, let your imagination go wild!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Toast Rounds&lt;/b&gt; - Get a incorporate of loaves of crusty bread such as Italian and slice into &amp;frac14; inch slices (baguettes work categorically well because they are the exquisite diameter). Brush with olive oil or melted butter. You can season the oil or butter with a exiguous bit of garlic and/or kosher salt or anything seasonings you want to use. Bake, cool, and store as above for pita chips.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Vegetable, Cheese, and Fruit Platters:&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You can order these from your local deli but they are so easy to make and can be easy or elegant depending on how you arrange the vegetables and what you use for the tray. Your local hardware or floor store will have a great option of tiles to choose from. Black marble, white tiles, or any attractive tile will work. Buy the 8x8 or 12x12 size, depending on how big your platters will be.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Vegetable Platters&lt;/b&gt; - buy a range of vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini, yellow squash, celery, cherry tomatoes, button mushrooms, etc. Wash vegetables and cut into bite-size pieces. You can line the tray with large romaine lettuce leaves making sure to leave some edges of the tray showing. arrange vegetables on tray in a cascading style beginning with a large base of vegetables and working your way up like a pyramid. You can also place a bowl of vegetable dip in the town of the tray and arrange the vegetables around it. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. This can be made a day in advance. Serve with ranch dressing, green goddess dip, onion dip, etc.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Cheese Platters&lt;/b&gt; - buy a range of cheeses such as cheddar, Colby, Swiss, havarti, gouda, etc. Cut into bite-size pieces and arrange as above on attractive trays. You can get categorically creative with this and cut the cheese into different shapes such as squares, triangles, etc. Or use mini cookie cutter shapes. If you can find baby associated cookie cutters that's even better. Serve with a range of crackers and toast rounds.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Fruit Platters&lt;/b&gt; - Buy a range of fruits such as melons, berries, grapes, oranges, kiwi, etc. (don't use apples or bananas since they do not hold up well). Cut into chunks, slices, and/or attractive shapes and arrange as above. Serve alone or with a refreshing yogurt fruit dip.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Salads&lt;/b&gt; - chicken or turkey salad, tuna salad, and/or egg salad can be served on a attractive tray lined with lettuce leaves and served with crackers, toast rounds, pita bread, and/or small rolls. Make sure to place these salads on ice or serve in small portions and refill as necessary. Pasta salads and antipasto salads are other tasty and easy dishes to prepare.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Appetizers&lt;/b&gt; -&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Stuffed Mushrooms&lt;br&gt;Deviled Eggs&lt;br&gt;Spinach &amp;amp; Feta Triangles&lt;br&gt;Pigs in a Blanket&lt;br&gt;Cocktail Meatballs&lt;br&gt;Chicken Fingers&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Wraps &amp;amp; Finger Sandwiches&lt;/b&gt; -&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Make a range of wraps and sandwiches or make a cold cut and cheese platter with small rolls, breads, and condiments on the side.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Hopefully these ideas will help you throw a thriving baby shower with food that is not only tasty but convenient for your guests to eat. We want to simplify things as either right or wrong, good or bad, true or false.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You've probably heard all this before, so you won't be surprised if I talk about life as lots of shades of grey between the extremes, rather than being black and white.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Well, I'm not going to, because I don't believe it's shades of grey either. Otherwise, questions such as "how do I come to be an A-list actor?" and "should I leave my job to pursue my dream?" and "what's my life's purpose?" get reduced to problems that are solvable by rational thought.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Treat life as a series of problems and that's what it'll be.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Allow me to offer someone else approach: Creative Authenticity.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Of course, I could write volumes on this, and many already have been. I can't do it justice in one brief newsletter, but I'll give you some bottom line elements of it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;1.	&lt;b&gt;Understand Your Values:&lt;/b&gt; those things at your core that point you toward what's most leading in your life. You didn't select them and you can't consciously turn them; they are what they are.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;2.	&lt;b&gt;Take a step back and look at your whole life&lt;/b&gt; through the lens of your values. It's part of knowing who you are.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;3.	&lt;b&gt;Simply consideration your deeper desires. &lt;/b&gt;When I say "simply notice," that's what I mean. Don't try to form them out or generate them - it's more like watching a ballgame from the stands. And when I say "deeper desires, that's also what I mean. Jonesing for an ice cream is great, and there's something more big about honoring "the turn you wish to see in the world."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;4.	&lt;b&gt;Decide who you want to be and how you want to be&lt;/b&gt; as you live your life. Let go of what to do and how to do it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;5.	&lt;b&gt;Tap into your creative imagination&lt;/b&gt; - that's where anything is possible.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;6.	&lt;b&gt;Practice living in the moment.&lt;/b&gt; Clich&amp;eacute;? Maybe, but if you want to live your life fully, you have to be there for it. Allow life to be a creative moment-to-moment experience.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Don't get me wrong, there are all the time decisions and choices to be made (and they're how you get where you're going) and you want your rational mind engaged in the process.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But once you've matched your desires with your values, you'll quit the hard work of "doing it right" and solving all of life's problems. Instead, the actions to take will be obvious, even inevitable. You'll stand for what you believe with power and you'll quit apologizing for your heavy power. None of the ice cream shops were successful in that sell space for any length of time.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;img src="" alt="" title="successful Marketing Requires follow Up"&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;My guess is this is partly due to the location, but probably has more to do with their lack of marketing and establishing a strong brand.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The minute Yogurt Shop Passed The Branding Test&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The minute yogurt shop seems to have a leg up on the branding end. It's called Diy Yogurt and you admittedly get to serve yourself the yogurt and add your own toppings.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This is a unique idea (a exact marketing advantage) and kids in particular seem to get a kick out of serving themselves and choosing and sprinkling the toppings on their yogurt by themselves.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So right there, the brand name (Diy or Do-It-Yourself) is consistent with the yogurt store's uniqueness.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Good job marketing so far.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;They're Using Smart Marketing Techniques&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The second thing they did right was to distribute 50% off coupons to all the homes in the immediate vicinity of the store. The coupons were valid on two exact dates and were used to announce the grand opening.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Smart marketing.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We were made aware of the shop and we were given an incentive to give it a try, which we did, along with many other population - the shop was packed with population when we visited. They also gave us a frequent buyer card that entitled us to a free yogurt after purchasing 10.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;A good start on generating repeat business.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Now they've done three things right.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But guess what?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;They Made One Potentially Fatal Mistake&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;That's where it stopped. It's been over a month since we went in for the 50% off trial and I haven't seen or heard whatever from Diy Yogurt since. And not surprisingly, we haven't been back. And you know the saying ... Out of sight, out of mind.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Perhaps they're doing other marketing that I just haven't seen. But my guess is they probably are not.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;They're expecting Me to remember them.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And as any good marketer knows, you've got to effect up again and again and again and Again. You can't rely on your customers or prospects to remember you - you have to remind them you're there.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I'll be appealing to see how long this minute yogurt shop lasts. I hope they do well. It's a unique idea that I think has a lot of merit. Plus their yogurt is pretty tasty!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You've Got to Follow-Up Follow-Up Follow-Up!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But without consistent marketing they may end up like all their predecessors in that space, and, like the majority of new businesses ... End up shop because they just weren't able to make sufficient sales to keep the enterprise going.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;If you have a great stock or service, and there is a market for what you're selling, there's no infer your enterprise can't be a success.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But if you don't have a marketing plan with ongoing, consistent follow-up in place, the chances of you succeeding are slim.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You need to be out there reminding population over and over and over again that you're there for them. So when they're ready to buy, they remember you, and they bring you their business.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I encourage you to take a look at your marketing efforts. We will be hosting a small buffet party Friday night so I have superior Shrimp and Grits. This is a menu that we serve as brunch during our holiday family get-togethers. It is easy to prepare and the flavors are warm and soothing. There are times when you have to draw the line e.g. Christmas lunch, Sunday lunch and family gatherings. Take a look at some of the recommendation below for a healthier meal:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;1. Try steaming or boiling your vegetables instead of frying or casseroling, also stay away from using cheese based dishes. Try to use herbs and lemon juice instead of butter or margarine.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;img src="" alt="" title="Weight Loss Tips"&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;p&gt;2. Cooking with chickens can pose as a bit of a problem, although chicken is very healthy in its self, containing half the fat of red meat. Try roasting or steaming your chicken in a non stick pan, and eliminate the use of oil by using a cooking spray. Watch out for different types of bread, stay away from white bread as it is full of sugar. Try to go for wholemeal bread, seeded bread and whole grain bread. When buying meats like pork and beef, try to buy lean and extra lean. Try some cuts like fillet and sirloin, these have less fat article than the other cuts. By doing this you will save on a lot of fat and calories. Also by using skimmed milk instead of cream in your favourite cream based recipes can also save on the calories.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;9. Try some substitutions in your cooking. Use 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder to replace 1 ounce of unsweetened chocolate in your desserts, replace 1 egg with 2 egg whites or &amp;frac14; cup of egg substitute, replace half of the oil in dessert recipes with an equal amount of unsweetened applesauce, try reduced or non-fat icy yogurt or sugar free ice cream on pies.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;10. If you still find yourself hungry after your meal and you do want to tempt your self to seconds, then go for the vegetables. Choosing steamed vegetables over meat and bread is far healthier.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;10 Tips for eating out when on your Diet&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;1. For a starter, try and keep it light maybe a prawn cocktail or a side salad. Make an endeavor to stay away from creamy starters and red meats.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;2. If you are a pasta lover and find it hard not to eat endless amounts. You must try and stay with a particular portion. Also don't worry if you leave a microscopic no one will persecute you for it, especially not your body.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;3. When ordering a meat dish, always go for the chicken. Stay away from fried chicken. always go for boiled, grilled or steamed. If you must ask for red meat, be sure to ask the waiter for a nice lean piece.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;4. If you don't see whatever on the menu, that is cooked to your liking. Ask the waiter if it would be potential for the chef to cook you a dish with say, boiled or grilled chicken, instead of fried. Don't be embarrassed at this invite as you will not be the first or the last to ask for it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;5. Avoid the temptation of cream sauce, butter, oil, batter and home made gravy.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;6. If you do not like leaving your food, then you can always ask the waiter, to wrap it up so you can take it home afterwards.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;7. If you are a take away man as I am. When you serve your take away at home, only serve half of it, and keep the other half for the next day or for other family member. Willpower is the key here!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;8. If you know where you are going for your evening meal. Why not ring the cafeteria and ask them to post a menu out to you, or go and pick one up. Now you can give the menu a good read and find out the best meal to suit you. When you arrive at the restaurant, your option is already made and a healthier one it will be.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;9. Buffets are the worst of all cafeteria temptations. You must know your quantum control. Try and have only one plate. Once again the key factor here is will power!&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;10. When the day comes for you to go out for your meal, try to eat smaller meals during the day, then you can keep an eye on the fat for the day and evening.
